In the show aquarium next to the Berlin Zoo, fish, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates such as insects can be admired on three floors. The zoo with its adjacent aquarium is one of Berlin's most visited sights.
The Bikini House is a listed, former industrial, commercial and office building on Budapester Straße. The building is the heart of the entire "Zentrum am Zoo" complex, which also includes the high-rise building on Hardenbergplatz (also called "Hutmacher-Haus" or "DOB-Haus"), the Zoo-Palast, the small high-rise building and the parking garage at the zoo.
Today, the Bikini House mainly houses a large shopping centre and various gastronomic offerings. It is also the world's first concept shopping mall with modular pop-up boxes that can only be rented temporarily. This gives well-known brands an opportunity to present a new product. Or young designers get the chance to present their creations to the public for the first time.
Breitscheidplatz is located between Kurfürstendamm, Tauentzienstraße and Budapester Straße. It is the site of the Protestant Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. It is also known as the "Gedächtniskirche", KWG for short, or "Hohler Zahn" in Berlin vernacular.
Today, the tower ruin of the church destroyed in World War II is a world-famous landmark of the Berlin West as well as a museum and memorial of peace. Much of the ruin was demolished in the 1950s. Afterwards it was completed by newly designed buildings including a church building by Egon Eiermann.
